U.S. 17 over the St. Mary’s River to see Daytime Closures Tuesday and Wednesday

YULEE, Fla. – U.S. 17 over the St. Mary’s River will see full closures Tuesday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for routine bridge inspection.

During the closures, motorists will not be able to cross the St. Mary’s Bridge and will be detoured to I-95 to cross the river.

The St. Mary’s Bridge was constructed in 1927 and is a movable swing bridge, where the center span twists to open for vessels. The bridge is completely manual and requires a crew to unlock the vessel, manually turn the bridge and relock the bridge when vessels request an opening.
