Help Shape the Future of Nassau County’s Conservation Efforts

CLAM Committee

The Conservation Lands Acquisition and Management (CLAM) Program was established in 2021 to create a strategic, science-based, and community-informed approach for identifying and protecting environmentally sensitive lands in Nassau County. The program helps safeguard water quality, wildlife habitat, and natural resources while supporting outdoor recreation and quality of life for future generations.

As part of the CLAM Program, the Board of County Commissioners established the CLAM Committee, an advisory board that reviews nominated properties and provides recommendations on conservation priorities, acquisition strategies, and long-term management plans.

The County is currently seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the CLAM Committee.

Applicants should have experience or expertise in areas such as:

  • Natural resource management or biology
  • Agriculture or forestry
  • Community planning
  • Environmental or civil engineering related to stormwater/green infrastructure
  • Environmental regulations, land use law, or commercial real estate.

Committee members serve voluntary, four-year terms and play an important role in supporting a transparent, community-informed conservation process.
