Board and Volunteer Opportunities with The Arc Nassau

The Arc Nassau is a local nonprofit that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through life skills training, employment opportunities and community activities.

The organization is seeking two new members to join its Board of Directors. Board members attend meetings on the last Friday of each month, typically for a couple of hours. They may also attend occasional events or participate in board votes between meetings. These are unpaid positions, and board members are recognized on The Arc Nassau’s website. The organization welcomes people with a wide range of professional and life experiences who can bring fresh perspectives to its work.

The Arc Nassau also recruits volunteers for individual events throughout the year. Summer is an especially active time, when volunteers support its program for people of all abilities. Volunteers may be paired with a camper or assigned to an activity station to offer encouragement and help participants stay comfortable and hydrated.

Additional opportunities are available at events such as The Arc Nassau’s Gala and Silent Auction. Volunteers help with setup, food service, cleanup and other event activities.
