City of Fernandina Beach Celebrates National Arbor Day
The City of Fernandina Beach has been honored for the 24th consecutive year as a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation, along with receiving the Growth Award for the fifth year. These recognitions reflect the City’s ongoing commitment to excellence in urban forestry and environmental stewardship.
Tree City USA communities must meet four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, enacting a community tree ordinance, investing at least $2 per capita in urban forestry, and celebrating Arbor Day annually.
In celebration of National Arbor Day, the City will host a tree planting event on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Atlantic Recreation Center, located at 2500 Atlantic Avenue. Participants will include members of the City’s Planning & Conservation staff, representatives from the Sierra Club, whose donation supported the tree planting, and Gage Tree Care.
For more information or questions regarding trees within the City, please contact Planning & Conservation Manager Margaret Pearson at 904-310-3480 or via email at mpearson@fbfl.org.
