Rated ‘A’ for Safety: Baptist Nassau Once Again Earns Top Safety Grade

Baptist Medical Center Nassau

Baptist Medical Center Nassau continues to earn the highest ratings for safety, quality and transparency from The Leapfrog Group. This is the 17th consecutive “A” hospital safety grade Baptist Nassau has received from the independent nonprofit organization dedicated to helping consumers make informed choices in their health care. The “A” rating places the hospital among the top hospitals nationwide.

Baptist Nassau is designated as a “Straight A” institution, a distinction awarded for maintaining an “A” grade across five or more consecutive grading periods.

“Patient safety guides every decision we make and every action we take,” said Tara Beth Anderson, FACHE, MSN, RN, NE-BC, hospital president of Baptist Nassau. “Through teamwork and continuous learning, we are reinforcing practices that safeguard our patients and the team members who care for them.”

The Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades based on hospitals’ performance measures and processes designed to protect patients and improve outcomes and experiences. The independent grading system protects patients and their loved ones by helping them make informed decisions when choosing where to receive care. The program is peer-reviewed, transparent and free to the public.

Letter grades of “A” through “F” are calculated using 22 national, evidence-based performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, combined with additional information Baptist Health voluntarily submits for the overall score.

“Every patient deserves safe, high-quality care,” said Jeremy Goodman, MD, MBA, FACHE, senior vice president and system quality officer at Baptist Health. “We remain focused on continuously improving and strengthening safety across every step of the patient journey.”

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades for adult hospitals are released twice a year, in May and November, with around 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the U.S. receiving a rating.

The score takes into consideration:

  • Process measures (how a hospital gives patients a recommended treatment, including the responsiveness of hospital staff)
  • Structural measures (the environment where patients receive care)
  • Outcome measures (what happens to a patient while receiving care)

Rankings for pediatric hospitals across the U.S, including Wolfson Children’s Hospital, are released annually in December. In 2025, Wolfson Children’s Hospital was named one of fifteen Top Children’s Hospitals nationwide for the third year in a row.
